We carefully consult a wide variety of different sources and media including amongst others, old maps, gazettes, directories and newspapers, which are then cross referenced to build up as accurate a picture as possible of the property and its surrounding area and the sort of people who lived there. These fascinating nuggets of information add to the character and depth to an area.
It never fails to delight us what information is revealed which is then incorporated into the artwork layout of your choice.
It is often surprising just how much an area has changed in a relatively short time - often just a few generations can see a dramatic difference in the nature of a neighbourhood.
What was your inspiration for the house histories?
We live next door to where the captain of the Titanic lived – a terrace of 200 year old Regency houses overlooking the River Mersey.
As soon as we moved in I knew I wanted to find out more about the history of the house and surrounding area and the sort of people who lived here. Digging deeper we found links to the Napoleonic Wars and timbers from those ships being used to build the houses - as well as rumours that French prisoners of war were forced to help in the construction.
I put all of this research into a gift for our new neighbour Rose which she loved and aFewHomeTruths was born!

Afewhometruths.com draws on our longstanding experience in historical documents and their interpretation - we started out over 30 years ago, interpreting heraldic French to produce surname histories and coat of arms artwork - in fact we were one of the pioneers in this area.
